At Mauwee Forest and Farms, our forest products are produced with an emphasis on making thoughtful use of the natural resources provided by the land. From the sap of the maple trees to timber and other useful materials from the forest, our goal is to transform local resources into practical, natural products while respecting the forest they come from.
Our first offerings include pure maple sugar, natural wooden rounds, and locally milled lumber. Maple sugar represents one of the oldest traditions of the northeastern woodlands, transforming maple sap into a concentrated, versatile sugar. Our wooden rounds and milled lumber make use of locally harvested timber for building, woodworking, crafts, and other projects.
As we continue to develop our forestry operations, we plan to expand into mulch, biochar, and Fire wood. These products will allow us to make fuller use of harvested and naturally fallen wood, including material that might otherwise go to waste.
Together, these products reflect our approach to working with the forest as a renewable resource—using what the land provides carefully, finding a purpose for as much of each harvest as possible, and keeping the connection between the forest and the finished product close to home.
